03 Commercial video: FAQs

What counts as a commercial film?

Anything a business puts its name on. Brand films and launch films; conference and event recaps; customer stories, recruitment films and founder pieces — the format changes but the job is the same. If it has to make an organisation look like itself on a good day, it belongs here.

Will you work to our brand guidelines?

Yes, and it saves everyone time if I see them before the shoot rather than after. Fonts, colour, tone, the things marketing will send it back over. Send them with the brief.

Do you write the script?

For interview-led and recap films there usually is not one, and the structure comes out of the edit. Where a film genuinely needs a script, that gets agreed and signed off before the shoot day rather than improvised on it.

Can we get social cuts from the same shoot?

Yes, and it is much cheaper than shooting again. Say so at the quote stage so the footage is captured with the vertical crop in mind rather than cropped into afterwards.

Who has sign-off, and how many rounds?

One named person on your side, and the number of revision rounds is written into the quote. That is the single biggest thing that keeps a project from dragging.

Do you cover conferences and all-hands?

Yes. That sits between this and event coverage, so if you want stills as well it is worth booking them together.

When do we get it back?

A delivery date is agreed at booking and written into the quote. It depends on the length of the film and how many versions you need, so it is set per project rather than promised as a blanket turnaround.
