A first-timer’s guide to booking a branding session

If you’ve never booked a branding session before, most of the uncertainty comes from not knowing what’s normal, rather than anything actually complicated.

Feeling a little self-conscious at first is normal, and it tends to fade fast once the session actually gets going. The proofing gallery usually shows a wider range of expressions and angles than the polished handful that make final delivery, which can be a surprise the first time round. Questions are always welcome too, whenever they come up, if anything isn’t clear.

The sessions that go best are usually the ones where the client stopped treating it as a performance and just let the direction do the work.

FAQs

A couple of quick answers.

How many images do we end up with?
A half-day session typically delivers 20 to 30 retouched images, a full day 40 to 60. The full proofing gallery is reviewed first, then the final retouch list is chosen.

Do you shoot product or workspace detail shots too?
Yes. Alongside people, product, workspace and detail shots give a marketing team a broader library to pull from.
