As a general rule, popular dates and locations get booked weeks or months ahead, particularly during busier seasons. Booking six to eight weeks out gives enough runway to plan properly without the wait dragging on. If your date is flexible, that flexibility is worth using, since it often opens up availability that a fixed date wouldn’t.
Last-minute bookings for a gig are sometimes possible, and worth asking about directly rather than assuming the answer is no.
