Editorial vs traditional: which style suits your event?

Two broad approaches sit behind most events: traditional, which prioritises clarity and consistency, and editorial, which goes after mood and story instead, often at the expense of a bit of that uniformity.

Traditional suits situations where the images need to look uniform or straightforwardly professional. Editorial suits situations where personality and atmosphere matter more.

Neither is objectively better. The right choice depends entirely on what the images are for, and that’s worth raising before an event is booked, not after the style has already been picked for you by default.

FAQs

Some quick answers here.

Will you work with our branding and shot list?
Happily. Brand guidelines, sponsors that need coverage and the moments that matter all get captured first, before hunting for the good candid shots.

Can you deliver images the same night?
Yes, for press-sensitive events. A selects folder can go out while the event is still running.
